Nope, luck elixirs only give you a better chance on scoring a better loot from killing mobs/bosses and not in any way would affect whatever comes out of crates and chests.

What lims said. Luck elixirs are in no way related to what you get once you open a crate.
Lim is correct, but I usually save up chests until I am on a luck elixir anyway (I'm superstitious).
I have found that if you say "Show me the money!!!" just before you open a chest, it improves your odds :-)
