Lag is stopping me from returning to PVP!

I've gone from the pvp realm for a while now, but i'd like to get back in. The only problem, as the title states, is that I lag way too much. I encounter lag spikes every 3-5 seconds it seems; all the while I'm sure those who I've been attempting to pvp against aren't lagging in this same way. There's no way for me to enjoy pvp if this keeps up.

I need help with this. Is there some way I can get my 4th gen ipod up to par? My router is brand new, so it's not my wifi (also since all computers and my ps3 aren't lagging, I ruled out the wifi being faulty). Anything would help. I've already tried to restore the ipod, turn off bluetooth searches, and all other notifications, along with disabling camera effects and high quality. I do, however, need to run the "assistive touch" function since the home button is smashed in, Would that have anything to do with it?

Again, any help is appreciated.

PS: I wasn't lagging while in Mt.fang or Balefort Castle dungeons, but every other campaign and towne I lag immensely.... But I mainly care about the pvp lag, just thought it was odd.

I don't know why, but I've found with my wifi, it spikes every 3-5 seconds, and when I use my 3G it's near perfection, but on my other stuff my wifi works fine, and seems to be only pl, still could be your wifi..

I used to use my IPhone until I was perma banned and that worked fine in pvp... I then switched to my 4thgen touch and have been having the same exact problems as you described... Maybe it's just the touch?

Also, the iPod Touch 4 & iPhone 4 are now terrible devices for PL. Their WiFi antennae are out of date & have trouble maintaining a stable connection in PL. How do I know this? I own an iPhone 4 and just tested it. The symptoms are exactly the same as to what you describe.

Why should we get the best in top market phones if PL was designed to be played on wide variety of phones. I own a Lg Marquee (newest version) and it lags terribly, I even uninstalled many internet-occupying apps and still lags so bad, even on the strongest wifi.

It's designed to be played on a wide variety of phones and it does. However, WiFi technology is upgrading and as a result, older devices cannot compete. For a top tier product, your experience will be flawless. For a mid-tier, it'll be an okay experience. For a crappy product, it'll be a crappy experience. Essentially, you get what you pay for.

Thanks, Parth. I suspected it was an outdated ipod issue. My mom's ipad runs it beautifully, but sadly she's stingy when it comes to letting me play PL for 4 hours straight.... Anyways thanks for confirming that

Actually it is wifi first of all did you upgrade your wifi? I play with iPod 4, iPad mini,iphone 4 and pc my Internet connection is very good sometimes it goes down under 100 ping but it is all about my wifi I pay a lot for my wifi if you need me just pm me or add me

Pl is meant to be played even with 2G EDGE connection, as even sts claim. It's just an example that pl uses low bandwidth data and should have good server.

Though it's true someone can play with edge but it would be horrible to do pvp with it, anyway I do.

Simply Implying either pl server facing significant amount of traffic increase or the server is being distributed on other sts games.

The truth is that there will always be excuses for bad ping, but the cause is most likely a user based problem, I guarantee it. I am able to play just fine, but if I switch to an iPhone 4 or any of my older devices, my ping suffers. You have to remember that technology moves fast, so if you want to keep playing mobile MMOs with the best connection, a top tier device helps A LOT, as does having an excellent dualband router.

If you are playing on 2G, it's highly likely that coverage in that area has grown worse or the network has taken too much of a load for demand of data, hence your higher ping on the same connection.

Oh dude, you missed it. Forg bow bear rushed me on my rhino. I lagged hard but was like "Meh... What the h-e-double hockey-stick..." And I input my standard combo while lagging. The spike stops, I got my first kill on that char XD. There was much laughter in my room today
