Default The Dark History of AL (Part 1)

Not many remember the pre-release of Arcane Legends in early 2012; most would say that it simply never happened. Those who know, choose not to talk about it. Any traces or remains of 2012 AL have simply been wiped away from existence. The entire STS team has made sure of that. The history of Arcane Legends is so grim, that I advise that you stop reading this right now. If you would like to continue, please do so with caution.

    -----

It all started when the pre-release for Arcane Legends was released to only a select few people on February 13th, 2012. I was one of the lucky holders of a beta key, and a few of my friends were as well. I launched up the game screen, and then the game proceeded. One thing to know, was that the music for beta AL was an octave higher. This did not affect me at all, but my ears were ringing slightly and I had an eerie, peaceful vibe going on. This did not bother me, so I made my character (a warrior) and I proceeded into the game.
At the time, there were only two classes; a warrior, and a wizard (which was later renamed the sorcerer.) My in-game name was Fake, so that is what I will be referring to as me. There was no tutorial, which I thought was a bit weird. I hopped straight into the city of Windmoore, and that is when the terrors started. The music was similar to the music used now, except it was an octave higher. However, it was different in a way, as it gave off a psychedelic vibe. Then, I could hear whispering in the background, and then a faint guitar riff.

    You are vulnerable...

Seek not your arms nor legs...

Crush not your soul nor torso...

    But your...

Afterwards, it proceeded into a guitar riff. It would continue in a cycle like this twice. This made me somewhat concerned, but maybe it was just a random song STS was playing while they were recording the track for Windmoore. I continued on to Brackenridge, and all was well. I played for about two hours until I reached Rook's Nest, which was the end of beta for me. It was pretty fun; I had reached level 11, which was the cap for beta. I went to sleep.
I was awoken with a knock on the door at 2 o'clock in the morning. It was an unnatural, and in a way inhumane, kind of knock. A knock by a drunk person on speed is the most accurate way I can describe it. I went downstairs to open the door, but there was no one there. Instead, there was an envelope at the doorstep. The envelope was entitled "Fake" from the STS HQ in Texas. I read it, and it was just a four bar phrase with an unusual jumble of words that I did not understand:

Take the cay from the third...

And replace it with the sea...

Crush not your soul nor torso...

    But your...

The last two lines immediately rung a bell. It was the psychedelic whispers of a song that I heard in theme of Windmoore! I was extremely scared for myself, and I could not go to sleep. So, I thought, what better way to waste time, than research these weird lyrics? I looked on the Internet to no avail. I stared at the piece of paper for hours, until I finally dozed off. I woke up at around 11 o'clock in the morning feeling more refreshed than I had been in the past twelve hours.
It was finally at 4 o'clock in the afternoon when I made the connection. I was at work, and I took the piece of paper with me. I was bored, so I decided to play Arcane Legends once again, and listen to the tune of Windmoore. I paid more attention to the guitar riff this time, and then it hit me. The chord progression changed from the F-chord, to the A-chord, to the C-chord, to the E-chord.

It actually hit me. I was knocked down by a gargantuan force, and my face was bleeding profusely. And then I remembered, my face. That was my last thought before blanking out.

Take the k from the third...

And replace it with the c...

Crush not your soul nor torso...

    But your...

    (Guitar riff)

    Part 2 coming soon.
