Default The L66 Bear is EXPOSED!

How to PvP: L66 Bear Style

Hi guys, it’s Apollo here. I just wanted to take the time to create a L66 bear PvP guide modeled off my character, Zeus.

NOTE: Many can disagree with my tactics, these are just the tactics that I personally use.

    Skill Build:

Skill Order: Go from the top right hand corner, down the column, then to the left hand corner, excluding buffs, as you need to use those before a fight.

So essentially, buff up, then beckon, scream, crushing blow, stomp, crippling, vengeful, super mega slash, then heal. Please note, this is not a robotic order. As you familiarize yourself with your class, you will realize sometimes it's not appropriate to use the skills in the same order. For example: I often do not use stomp until I need to pin them, I usually go for crippling first, then stomp them into a wall or tree to pin them.

How to fight various classes (Bear, Bird, Enchantress):

    Bear:

    Str Bear:
People may say that full strength bears are impossible to kill if you are also a full strength bear. I beg to differ. It may take time, but it can also be done in under a minute. As a full strength bear fighting another full strength bear, you do not NEED your buffs right away. Thus, you can get by using taunt and stacking it until your opponent’s buffs wear out. What should you do in the meantime? Apply your debuffs and pin the bear, of course! If you notice, crippling slash is my second highest slash. One only has time to utilize 2 of the 3 slashes typically before your opponent pushes you away. Crippling slash has the ability to root the enemy, making it easier to apply your debuffs and drag him to a tree to stun lock him. So, you should approach the strength bear by beckoning him into a corner (he is likely to dodge this), spamming hell scream, landing crushing blow, crippling slashing him, then stomping him into a tree. Once you have him successfully pinned, then turn on your rage buff and hammer away. Otherwise, it’s useless considering half the time you guys are just flinging yourself across the map and wasting the usefulness of rage.

    Dexterity Bear/Bow Bear:
These bears are capable of high damage, thus you will need all your buffs immediately. The most effective way to deal with them is beckon, hell scream, crushing blow, CRIPPLING SLASH, then stomp. You guys might ask, why not the stomp combo? Well, the root is more important, otherwise you are just stomping your enemy away. If you can find the time to squeeze another slash in there, then by all means, be my guest. If done effectively, your dodge should take care of their damage and pinning them should do the rest. Please note that this class typically wears a recurve of sorts (Sanguine Longbow). Recurves have the ability to reduce hit percent greatly (-20 to -30 percent). Thus, be aware of the sparkling gold stars above your characters head. If they are present, you should NOT be trying to remain in range and get out of it ASAP, as your skills will likely miss the bear.

    Enchantress:

Typically, you can approach all types in the same manner. These guys hit rather hard, so, what you need to do is buff up everything EXCEPT rage. Only use rage when you have them pinned, or your rage will end up going to waste. Do NOT forget to buff taunt TWICE as you will need every bit of dodge to withstand this rather hard hitting class. Once you get them pinned, you can stun lock them and hammer them until they die. Be sure to pre-plan where your stomp and beckon will land.

    Bird:

Birds are perhaps the MOST dangerous class versus a bear. They have the ability to ignore high armor and dodge with their various debuffs. You essentially NEED the beckon to land when you approach them. If it doesn’t your last resort is to try and hell scream to stun them and then apply crushing blow and take them out with your slashes. If this is not possible, retreat and remember to spam stomp keeping them away until your beckon is off cooldown again.

IF BECKON LANDS: You want to use hell scream, crushing blow to negate their dodge, stomp, and crippling slash or SMS. This combo will USUALLY take them out, unless their Sanguine Longbow Blinding proc activates. IF this the case, which can be determined by seeing gold stars on your character’s head, GET OUT. You will NOT be able to hit them and they will be capable of landing some RAPID and HIGH damage on your poor bear.

Also, treat warbirds like a strength bear, unless they have you rooted. If they do, stomp to get out of roots and retreat. Pin warbirds and treat them like a strength bear whenever possible. This is the most efficient way in my experience to kill them.

    NOTE FOR ALL CLASSES:
Heal whenever possible, the most efficient time is when you are taking heavy damage or recovering.
