gear stats?

So iam lvl 37 now and iam still a bit confused on what key stat I should be going for with gear I've heard m/s, dex, h/s, and crit. Also on weps I was told take higher dmg over high dps due to armor. I had a high dps purp and a slightly higher dps pink but stats were slightly better on purp wich to take? Guess that last one ties in with first question. Srry for noobish question. Gear selection isn't as cut and dry imo as other games I've played. Thanx for any help!

M/S would be the best stat for lower levels, but at 37 I'm pretty sure you can max out Meditation now which pretty much covers almost all your skill spamming. Just 1 or 2 M/S should be fine. I'd try to focus on dex/damage if I were you so you can kill mobs fast to level faster.

Some enemies at 35+ have ridiculous Armor so it's indeed better to use a higher Damage weapon over DPS. DPS is calculated using 0 Armor (right?) so it can be a little misleading.

You could probably focus more on DPS if you have enough M/S to contantly cast your armor debuffs (Break Armor, Shattering Scream). But if the difference in DPS is small, I'd still pick the higher Damage weapon.

DPS means damage per second dealth with 0 armour. Correct.

So (for example) you have 30 DPS, you will only be dealing 1 DPS to a mob with 29 armour.

At higher levels, max/min damage is more important than DPS.

This means swords at higher levels are useless, why don't they have an armor proc? Just asking..

Ty much! Yea just discovered meditation, some one told me not to get it...... I think its pretty darn sexy! Save a ton on gold!

They aren't useless per se, the mobs are just higher armored making them deal less if not debuffed. Also all 3 lvl 50 swords do have procs, only force cutter actually removes armor though.

I wouldn't recommend it at 50 because Void m/s is so good. Early levels its very useful though.

i figured once i get geared i should be fine with m/s. i planed on respecin g at 50 any how.

I'm level 27 and kind of in a similar spot. I'm having a hard time giving up my m/s gear for higher DPS. I think I have meditation at 4 though so I need to start going for higher dps gear.
