What does it mean by "Custom Avatar"

I was trying to change my avatar (getting bored of Skill Shatter. wanted to change it)

when i noticed "Note: Having a custom avatar will replace your current avatar"

what and how do we get custom avatars?

You can't have a custom avatar. They are your own pictures you can take off of your camera roll/picture storage/web images. STS doesn't allow them like how they do not allow GIFs in your signature.

But there is a guy who managed a custom avatar.....

Sorry guys but we do not allow custom avatars. We did have an issue which has been fixed. If you happen to see anyone with a customer avatar please let me know. Thanks!

I think there was a glitch where if you signed in through facebook the avatar was your profile pic not sure tho.
