Eh I don't picture a dragon or gryphon as transportation so much as something awesome to ride into battle

Although those dungeons are a bit tight for mounts...

Hmm... pets...perhaps pets that can go into dungeons and help you. Like a guard dog could put up a forcefield around you or an attack dog could help kill enemies... doesn't have to be a dog. Just a thought. Maybe some sort of mystical creature could act as a personal healer.
