Flames are overrated. Plus it gives a good feeling when you see that orange number 90 flowing above your opponents head from that first skill.
Basically, the first skill does same amount of damage over time with its short cooldown but in instant.
Carnivalclown's build is the standard build most pvpers (and pros) use. It's greatly effective, and will be more effective if you know how to use it properly. xD

lol srsly? lets do the math here.
Mind wrack is a 1 tick skill with 15-25 damage on level 6. It has the most damage of all the skills sure. But Flames are much better preferred than Mind wrack. Here's why.
Flames of Insanity is a 3 tick skill with a damage of 11-12 damage per second on level 6. Wrack is a 1 tick skill, while Flames is a 3 tick skill, which will result in much more damage.
Total?
Mind Wrack Damage total: 15-25
Flames of Insanity Damage total: 33-36
With only a 2 second cool down difference. But Flames result in a much higher damage than Wrack.
Plus, there's a chance to stun on Flames. It's not even a small chance either. Since the chance increases as the skill level increases, there is a good chance of stun.
Both have a steady chance of crits. But think about it. Flames is a 3 tick skill, which means it's possible for more than one crit. Which will result in much more damage!
True, Wrack is an instant skill, while Flames is a bit slower one. But it results in a much higher damage result.
That is why Flames of Insanity is preferred the best over Wrack by many people, including pros n vets.
