I would say there should be different colors for when ppl msg u, party chat, public and trade (maybe have a trade chat?) also when guilds come out there should be a guild chat like separatethem with tabs or something, Note: this is to prevent confusion or get lost on what ppl tell u..
anothe rthing... for spammers maybe limit a person to repeat a msg 3 times or a 1 min chat ban?

Edit: I Would also add an actions tab in the chatbox as in u can wave to ppl and u see (name waves to you), (name is angry at u when you do the grr emote) etc and also put the trade requests, friend requests etc in that tab too. idk just more ideas that have come into my head.
I hope im sorta bein heard? idk if theyre good ideas or not

Edit 2: have msges in during trade last longer or have a minibox to see what they say because it dissapears too quickly inmy opinion
