It would be pretty cool if the character development was divided up by races (Human, Orc, Elf, Dwarf, etc) and plot-driven factions (like angels vs demons, nation vs nation, etc), as well as the opportunity to select gender. Character development in this aspect would be similar to games like OaC, while the gameplay can still hold AL's zoned layout, simple character designs, and award-worthy social system.
A good change with the faction system would be a nonlinear questline, even more distinctive than the one currently in this most recent AL campaign. Quests would be completely different across the factions, taking you to different places and enemies with reasonable goal-established destinations to encourage immersion.
A character system that is NOT based on class would be pretty interesting. If players grew out from the same point, investing skill points into skill trees to encourage diversity and hybrid gameplay. If people want to be a warrior, let them evolve into a warrior. If they want to be a wizard, let them evolve into a wizard. If they want to be a warrior wizard, let them become someone with certain choice characteristics of the two classes.
This would most definitely be a challenging achievement, especially with trying to keep the game balanced with undefined classes, but it would be so rewarding and fresh in execution that I'm sure will not only attract loyal AL fans, but also other diehard mmo gamers.
Character development is a prime core in RPG's, it is detrimental for players to have the freedom to customize their own gameplay into their own liking with as much freedom as possible
PS: Also, nothing can be more disappointing than a game with auto-pathing, where one can have their character move on their own with just one click of a button. So please leave that out.

Don't give them ideas lol, they already have tons of games left behind which had a pretty nice community, I don't want it to happen with al, just focus on your old game sts or maybe retrieve old titles, no new game is required

I've often thought about developing a first-person sword based game styled as an RPG with questlines, crafting etc.
To me, combat systems are not as interactive as could be, so I was thinking of a system where a sword attack from an NPC would be a screen swipe, and the player would have a prediction period where they would see the attack incoming (perhaps 0.3 seconds) where a swipe could block/deflect the attack if the deflection angle is appropriate, then reverse the swipe to counter attack. If the attack is not blocked (collision angle of 90 degrees +/- 10) or deflected away from the avatar, it will land. Attacks that hit could be turned by armor if the deflection angle appropriate (< 15 degrees or > 165 degrees). In this type of system reaction time and angle recognition would be the keys to success.
For example (assuming you are Samurai Jack facing Aku), you are faced with two attacks and want to block, counter and block:
In this example, both attacks will be blocked (because both attack intersection angles are +/- 10 of the 90 degree requirement for a block) and you countered with a swipe across the stomach.
An example of attack deflection and armor:
In this case, armor deflected the first attack because the angle was acute enough for armor to deflect it. The second attack was deflected away from the body (see orange lines), and you scored a hit on the opponent.
As the game progresses, you would face dual-wielding opponents, sword and shield opponents, even multiple opponents. Attack chains would increase (i.e., 4 attacks from different angles, which need to be parried/countered) and reaction time would decrease. Obviously, you can earn new gear, but, unlike most RPG's, gear wouldn't make much of a difference to the unskilled.
- Weapons would either add to swipe duration (length of sword stroke) or reduce opponent prediction time.
- Armor would either reduce damage or deflect the blow if the attack lands at an acute/obtuse enough angle.
- Shields would have offsetting properties (size and weight) which will increase your swipe thickness while reducing swipe duration (to account for shield weight).
In this case, you have have a starter weapon with a short stroke, and a large, heavy shield, so swipe duration is very limited but if you intersect the attack, it guarantees a 90 degree block.
So, as you can probably guess, I've put some time into thinking out the battle system, but at this point in my life, I simply don't have the time to develop such a game. This would be thousands of hours of time, which I don't have, so, for enterprising developers out there, feel free to take my concept and run with it (though I would appreciate attestation for the battle concept).

How to play :

Dedicated to friends and guildies banned by sts or totally quit the game.
I dont see any reason to create a new arcane legends game unless the coding was shot creating bugs/glitches with every update, therfore making it easier for the long run to just start over and make an AL2 (I would name it after the same multiple award winning game ofc). They just needed to find the right theme, imo they did. They tried sci-fi(sl), vampire(dl), and whatever else. AL can always be expanded with added classes, maps, and even skills.
Also the player base seems extremely small, they should have advertised like other games have in the past years. Look how successful those titles are (coc, age of war)
@zylx timed runs are a huge part of the lb and this game, I wouldn't make the maps differ per class or storyline, causing timed runs to fall, unless you could still somehow incorporate them.
Also I think creating new classes and skills could solve the build diversity, which awakenings already help solve (tanky rogues or whatever could be the final outcome of that)
