I have a 50 ping average on a mobile mmo with their HQ in China.
I have a 150 ping average on arcane legends who have their HQ in the U.S.
I live in the United Kingdom.
The United Kingdom is closer to the U.S. than China.

There is a vast ocean in between the U.K and the U.S. The English channel is the only body of water that i know of that stands between China and the U.K. Even through China may be further away, the land lines still connect faster then by air. I live in the U.S. so idk.

It also depends on the quality of the server. Distance has a relatively minute affect on performance, most of the server lag is caused by either network issues on the user's side or a high population flooding the server, or less commonly a mechanical shutdown. Since China is a larger country, thus a larger demographic to accommodate certain online games, their servers could be designed for a large amount of activity.

Which mmo u mean?
It depends on the game. For some reason i don't think the ping is measured in same units in all games.
I remember in Counter Strike i had 5-15, but in AL i had 200. Both games were not lagging tho, i mean i had normal playable experience.
Sts servers are overloaded
Servers in this game isn't strong enough to handle many players logging in

I only had high ping a few times in my whole 4 years playing AL. Most of which was in a random party, not sure if other players in same map effect your connection if they have poor internet.
