Fortified weapon skill damage??

Between the 1h fortified sword and the 1h fortified axe which has better skill damage...SKILL! The axe has higher dps and someone told me the higher dps will have better skill damage. Can someone who actually knows the difference please tell me

The sword has much higher skill damage, and has a set bonus, thus making it much more desired and pricey.

OK with my Fortified Sword and Shield set, I get 231-294 damage with the Super Mega Slash skill at level 6.

With the Fortified Battle Axe and Shield, I get 220-283 damage with the same skill.

DPS with Forti Sword and Shield Set is 177 DPS. With the Forti axe and shield I get 200 DPS
