Look back to AO2, and the best items when they came out were a heck of a lot cheaper than high-end pinks now.
I think a main part of this game's inflation has to do with the fact that as time goes on, people have played through more campaigns and can amass more gold. So when new campaigns appear, everyone is used to having more gold, and so everyone charges more for high-end gear.

As for gambling: this is an American based company, with an American based game. It must not only comply with the country's gambling laws but also each state (and I don't care enough to research anything on this subject). To the best of my knowledge, the usual minimum age to even enter a contest to win a bicycle is 13. How much effort do you want STS to put in to age verification and law examination? That's not even including Verizon's rules or Apple's or every other country in the world.
If you use real money to buy plat, and turn that plat into gold in game, and then make any type of "bet" including a daily lottery - that IS gambling. Granted there are no legitimate ways to turn game gold won back into paper in your pocket. Could you then turn around and file a gambling loss with your government? Ok, too complexed now, sorry.
Something's value is determined by what someone else will pay. Plain and simple. If someone can sell something for 500k - then that's the price. If all they can get is 250k, then that is the price.
You do not want PL to become a game where someone can be max level, max equipped, in days and have no CLUE about the game itself, much less HOW to play. This isn't Monopoly nor is it Mafia Wars.
Absolute best thing you can do (Mennddoza) is find other players who need gold and farm your fingers off.

Item packs are already a type of gambling in PL, that directly give's you several random items for plat. We need more money sinks and more unique ways of obtaining gold. People aren't breaking any laws or regulations. Can anyone guess why? Because nobody can turn it into irl currency. If you are rich enough irl, then you can buy all the gold you want to; power level, buy just about any item, travel to any destination within PL etc. Hey that's just the way it is. The word gambling has such a stigma surrounding it people freak out, but if you put a poka-dots on a little box, that plays music, which reads "insert coin here" at a chance to see the funny clown, then people are cool with it. So long as people aren't obtaining irl currency (against EULA) for gold, then its ok.

Yes a lot of people want lotteries even me too, this could be a great idea to be added to PL. Also I love the idea to get a easier way to get gold and in farming you don't always get the items that's worth a lot of gold.
