Crazy, must be freaky for people who are not used to earthquakes.

I'm a Geologist and live in CA, so I'm pretty accustomed to earthquakes. However, I used to live in the mid-west. Not many people know that the New Madrid fault, which runs through most of the southern and central portions of the mid-west is one of the largest faults in the world. In fact, that fault has produced at least one very large earthquake in recorded history (turn of the century, I think)!

I don't mean to scare anyone, just want to let people know earthquakes are possible just about anywhere, and to be prepared. I hope everyone is safe and secure!

The epicenter was about 10 miles from the Dominion North Anna nuclear power facility. The 2 reactors there lost power and immediately went into shutdown. There are deisel generators maintaining the electricity.

I also read that the announcers felt it in the broadcast booth in Cleveland at a game between the Indians and Mariners.

It was pretty scary. I live not far from the epicenter, I thought a bunch if trees were falling on my house.

The "earthquake" In NY wasn't serious at all. No one here's shutting up about it and it's extremely annoying. The hurricane coming Sunday is something to be worried about.

Yeah in ny here, saw on news they evacuated nyc city hall. But most ny folk not use to earthquakes or tornados. Had a tornado touch down in western ny 2 weeks ago and that was talk on news for a few days, now its the earthquake turn. I lived in central ca for 6 yrs so use to earthquakes.
