Since elixirs can be kept after dungeon completion and death, the time factor is much more apparent. Everyone is in a rush to get going while you're left in the dust scrolling all the way to the bottom for your measly 1.5x elixir selection. So sure it sucks, but the devs could have done away with it completely (look at SL), so I for one am greatful. My advise for you is get efficient at choosing a location to purchase your gold elixir and work on your finger scrolling speed.
Basically, I'm saying you should adapt to the new system because I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon. Elixirs used to be available from 1.5 to 3x, combo or standalone (luck and speed sold seperaty), but now it's been reduced to 4 total and has remained that way for a while. STS kept the four around to prevent rioting in the streets, but their new formula appears quite lucrative so the need for change is minimal. Also, with the amount of players elixir boosting, players who would like more options for in-game currency may be the minority.
