Gameplay is of the Diablo-esque, hack-and-slash variety, with what looked to be four active abilities (that can be charged up!) to fire off in between basic attacks. What’s really interesting about gameplay in Dark Legends is the risk-vs.-reward Blood resource system. Spacetime Studios has combined health and mana into a single pool, ensuring that players will have to balance spending that precious crimson sustenance with anticipating how much damage they may end up taking. However, as players deal damage in battle, they will build up a Feed meter (in the form of a red skull). Once filled, players can spend the meter to feed on enemies and replenish their Blood pool.
While the game does not feature any class types, per se, players can specialize along a skill tree however they wish. Additionally, players can fine-tune their characters with a number of accessories called shards, which boost the character’s stats in various ways. Want to be the tougher vampire that just won’t go down? Or perhaps you just want to lay waste to everything in sight? The choice is yours.
