Ima guess because there's no camera rotation. It would take less time to do the one and only side you would ever see, allowing more detail to be entered.
But from a design standpoint, the style they have is great.

That's definitely a legit point to this. I think STS intended two games that have both a retro and modern look.

They're very similar but AL has different aspects that Dark Avenger doesn't.

Star Legends was made out of stardust.
Dark Legends was made out of dark matter.
And...
Pocket Legends was made out of fabric and wool.

AL was reviewed more times than PL/DL/SL, thus there are tons of new players joining AL. AL's not bad but I still prefer PL. Great community +9001

AL may look better, but it's not even a 3D MMO, atleast I wouldn't call it 3D. on the oher hand PL is semi-3D, from that perspective AL nothing better than PL. technology develops, the capabilities of touch devices improving greatly, these devices can handle pc quality 3D graphics, AL is nothing just an old style addition to that. Don't know about others but I'm greatly disapointed, hopefully next time when they release a new title, it will satisfy us from that point of view.
