Debuff?

My enchanter has a skill called lightning. It says 3-11 sec. armor debuff. I have no clue what debuff means.

It temporarily removes the armor protection of an enemy--the protection is a "buff", a debuff removes it. Say you're fighting an enemy with really heavy armor protection, say 200 as an example. A warrior has a weapon that does, say 85 damage--an enemy won't even feel it since the armor will absorb it all. Lightning strikes and now his armor protection is gone and he'll be feeling everyone of those 85 points of damage.

Actually the armor reducing effect of lightning is pretty minimal. If memory serves, it reduces armor by 3, though it also reduces damage by 4, so it's not really that major, but is helpful, especially at lower levels. Lighting is also a great damage skill with fast cooldown, and relatively low mana cost. All around it's a great skill despite the weakness of the debuff. If you really want to cut into armor, you need to use another great mage skill, Nightmare, which at rank 5 drops armor by 50.

Yeah, but Nightmare comes along a fair bit later in the life of a Mage. My baby Mage is level 13 and it's not available yet. And lightning does a terrific combo with the avian Thorn Root skill (as does Nightmare combined with the warriors Hellroar). Take a peek into the Enchantress forum. Do the different Armor debuffes stack?

Break armor from a weapon stacks with nightmare and terror and lightning I know that one and others but that's the first one that comes to mind.

if you have both weakness and nightmear skills learned... yes they stack

Weakness is not an armor debuff.

Drain life does not debuff. It simply damages the target and heals the user.
