Hello,

My name is OverkillED and I'll be giving you an analysis of how good the forgotten bow really is in comparison to SSC items and dexterity platinum packs in the 25-27 bracket as well as my point of view. (strictly talking mages). Let me get one thing out of the way! This isn't a complaint or "nerf forg pls" thread! It is simply my point of view and analysis of the forgotten bow items against the SSC and platinum talon pack items. (Sorry couldn't change the link title, but changed the thread title.) This is my second actual guide/informative page, so please give positive feedback, and constructive criticism is appreciated.

I. What is SSC? What is a forgotten bow?
II. SSC Wand/Bracer vs Forg Bow
III. Plat Pack Talon and Wing vs Forg Bow

I. What is SSC? What is a forgotten bow?

To start basic, SSC stands for the Sandstone Caves, which is a campaign that comes after Balefort Castle (same level requirement as Fathom Crypt). The items dropped there are like weapons made from precious minerals and materials from the earth. Example: Onyx, Crystalline, and Earthquake gear. Well, what is a forgotten bow? A forgotten bow is a dexterity item that comes in many levels and was part of the Forgotten Event in the Fall of 2012. It is characterized by being a golden colored bow with different colored gemstones lining it. The gemstones also show the quality of the item. (Uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary). Forgotten bows are now discontinued. The picture on the top is a forgotten bow (legendary quality - pink gems) and the picture on the bottomis a crystalline wand; the shield is a Gratitude Shield vanity, not a crystalline bracer.

II. SSC Wand/Bracer vs. Forg Bow

Ok so let's look at the pros and cons of Earthquake Wand/Bracer and the Forgotten Bow!

Forgotten Bow
Pros:
Blind proc (this is a big one)
Ultimately high damage
More DPS
More crit

Cons:

Less range than an xbow
Less mana/health regen
2H - can't wear a shield with it, resulting in less of a few certain stats
Less armor

SSC Wand/Bracer
Pros:

More mana/health regen
More hit, and other general stats
More armor/defense
Moderate damage
Looks cool ;)

Cons:

A lot less damage and nuking in comparison to the forgotten bow
No blind proc
Moderate damage
Despite the general defensive stats, you still get nuked quite easily
Less range than an xbow

We can conclude that wands are defensive, and forgotten bows are highly offensive. The thing that makes the forgotten bow much more stronger than the wand is the blind proc! It lowers 15% hit on proc and is stackable, so you end up missing quite a lot of crucial skills that could make or break a fight. Why forgotten bows are called luck-based is because whoever hits the blind proc (which is random) first, generally wins. Despite the defense on a wand, when put up against a forgotten bow nukist, the wand doesn't stand too much of a chance. Yes you could say: "Well if you have actual skill you can kite and blah blah," but the thing is. you'd have to use fire then mana shield quickly, or else you'd die in a matter of a second or two, chances being that the forgotten user hits drain and fire. If the forgotten user is relatively skilled and can counter kiting, then they will deplete your mana before you do to theirs, forcing a loss upon you. Agreeably, level 50+ items start having better stats and can do better than the SSC items when put up against the forgotten bow.

I believe the blind proc is -20% hit and can be stacked.

Also fbows take out the required skill and practice with strategy, skill performance, kiting, and range advantage. :/

I appreciate the work you put into this but do we really need another 'forgotten bows are OP thread'?

A quick search will show you that countless topics both in favor and against forgotten bows have been made in the past. If they're really that OP why not just buy one? It's not like they're super expensive.

At least that's my opinion about it :)

Oh I do have one. I also know that there were threads like this in the past, but this isn't a complaint or "nerf forg pls" thread. I've heard forgotten bows are OP, so I want to compare them against the SSC items of the 25-27 PvP area. :D

It's stacking -15%.

They're super cheap. Pink WF 2010 gear costs ~1m-8m, pink halloween gear costs 200k-700k and pink forgotten bows cost 225k-300k.

Please read the first paragraph of my analysis. I just put that this isn't a complaint or "nerf forg pls" thread. It's to see how much ssc gear and plat pack talons stand against forg bows.

DO A HALLOWEEN VS. FORG PLZ :devilish:

Using the search bar with the terms "Halloween" AND "Forgotten" produces:

http://www.spacetimestudios.com/showthread.php?92069-***The-Forgotten-Myth-Debunking-the-quot-OP-quot-Talk***

@OK - If you want a true, thorough analysis, you need to include Halloween items as well. Otherwise, you will be missing a quarter (and very important part) of the argument.

And before everyone begins chiming in with the "Blinding proc" statements, please remember recurves (which is what the forgotten bows are) have the "blind proc". If these are "OP", so are Raid/Custom recurves, Sang longbows, and Flying recurves. (Not sure what an Onyx bow is considered, but I would classify it as a recurve as well.)

Bear Platinum Item Pack lv 40 (sword and shield).

Build - 6 rage, 6 taunt, 5 beckon, 5 stomp, 6 hell scream, 6 cb, 4 mega slash, and each one for the other slashes. (Two moar)

Not everything. Voodos take skill to beat fbow mages. A reaper burd takes down a fbow burd. 30-40 still takes some skill to win. Either fb or not.

Yes, but 98% of the other PvPers uses forgotten, which, in truth, doesn't take any skill vs. another forgotten.

Hit debuff of 15 percentage points has significantly bigger impact at levels 10-26 where hit percentage is generally very low than at levels 51+ where hit percentage is higher.

Have you ever played Bear or Mage below 61? If so, then you know this statement is not as cut and dry as you say it.

Thanks Micah! I'm moving from Yongsan, Korea to the states so I can't update this because they packed my computer up. :/

By the way, I'm making a voodoo rhino just for fun! Hehe. I'm just worried that I'm gonna get bullied for being unique. Oh well.
