Changes to Leaderboard, everyone deserves a chance!!

Hello Devs and STS and fellow players!
Following are my suggestions for the leaderboard changes:

Seasonal Leaderboard
The PvE and PvP kills/flag captures should reset just like the timed runs every season. That would actually give new players a chance to get on leaderboard. How and when do you expect a new player to ever catch up with 50k+ kills or 15k+ flags..? Players get too competitive and start kill farming in order to keep up or catch up. Doing that would actually tone down the kill farming or wrong methods as well. Stats on player profile should show total amount of kills/flags but on season leaderboard, it should show the kill/flag count for that specific season.. Shouldn't be too difficult to add a separate parallel counter to a player's current counter which would reset every season. The All-time top players can stay the same with Max number of everything, but there is definitely a need of leaderboard which resets every season for pve and pvp so everyone has a chance!

Yep I think this is a great idea! Unfortunately it has been suggested several times before, with no clear response :( As far back as the beginning of season 2, it was quite obvious that new players had no chance at catching up to the pve kills leaderboard, and such a change was suggested. So +1 to having both "seasonal" and "all time" pve kill, PvP kill, and PvP flag leaderboards to keep everyone happy, both old and new players :)

Maybe there should be 2 sets of leaderboards for those items.

PvE Kills Season 4 & Total PvE Kills
CTF Kills Season 4 & Total CTF Kills
TDM Kills Season 4 & Total TDM Kills

Same banner given for being on either leaderboard. That way players who worked hard in previous seasons can be rewarded for their previous hard work while new players still have a chance to earn that same banner.

The reason I think this is that some players went way overboard in previous seasons to give themselves a cushion for future seasons. Although he is not playing anymore, one player that comes to mind is Patrick. He reached 1m PvE kills early in Season 2. I'm sure you all realize how phenomenal of a feat that was. He told me at the time he did it so that he didn't have to farm kills for a really long time. He is still tops on the sorcerer leaderboard and if he were still playing would deserve to get banners until he is knocked off that board.

Yet I understand that new players who do well should have a chance to be on leaderboards. So have both, that way everyone will be happy.

Only area I don't think it is possible to both is the "Top Player" categories. This one has to stay the way it is with the total points counting.

One thing though the banners should be excluisive not given out to every single player.. And tbh idk about this idea the longer you been killing you keep that spot, what happens to the #1 player example in pve kills where does he go? If he gets removed then thid idea is not good at all lol. He should keep that spot no matter what. If little kids cry dam cant be on the lb wa just put real hard work in and maybe you can catch up.

Be practical, think about it, to even get on leaderboard the fair way, it takes more than a few months. Meanwhile, the kill count on LB keeps increasing, making it even harder to get there! Say couple seasons from now, it would be almost impossible for a new player to get there. Some players use the 'short cut' by kill farming, while doing that they don't take into consideration the amount of hard work some players have put into getting there. By implementing this seasonal leaderboard system, everyone would get a fair chance of being on the LB as it would count your kills right from 0 every season! Even newbies who join couple seasons from now would have a chance!

Sure, I'd lend a hand if STS asked/invited me.

If I got access to the database, don't be to surprised if I get "lucky" and loot Hammerjaw, Glacian, a dozen Mythics and an Arcane Hammer or two. Weird how my luck could suddenly improve like that :-)

I would like a separate lb for seasons and overall, that'd reward the ones who worked hard from the start as well as the new players. Different banners need not be made, but idk.

Why not just reset the kill/death counters every season for LB purposes? So everyone starts at 0 again for the season?

Everyone should still keep our 'total' numbers - but the seasonal LB could reset just like the timed LB runs.

I'm not really an LB player - I could really care less if I'm on them, but I think resetting each season just makes more sense. After all - do the Milwaukee Brewers (Love ya Kill - that's for you) have to make up a deficit of all the games they lost every season? No – they get a clean slate each season just like all the other teams.

I think this would prevent some kill farming since people can’t build up a cushion for LB status with a permanent place (ie Patrick – never met him, but over 1m PVE kills – all that in season 1 and 2 also if I’m not mistaken… wow).

Thumbs up for this idea defamed i honestly think its positive,constructive and not selfish.tho some may disagree with me especially those who measure amount of time they have spent.if uve started al since a year ago i need more than 24hours to catch up.logically.

The way i see it as follow:
Seasonal encouragues new players to compete and push themselves to be worthy of lb

Players who have been there since day 1 and haul their efforts earn their rights to be on lb.this is a long time supporter and display of dedicated commitment.

And let the community evaluate whos the best or whatever proposition the lb is giving.this is not an easy task for sts to solve to please everyone.what you have suggested is the best for now in my opinion.

I put my faith in hard work rather than length of service.its not even an apple to apple comparison.if i could get all the time ive missed simple coz i nvr knew all or not having a working device to play where would ive been now?

Btw thanks for light at the end of the tunnel coz ive given up on lb till i see this.brilliantly thought and written.wish people would spend some time to digest your inputs.

Thanks Alfai, yep i have thought about the oldest players as well hence suggested a 'parallel counter' idea for every season :) Hopefully they implement this.. everyone will be happy as old players will stay there on All-time top lb, and new players can compete for seasonal lb part ;)

Fantastic idea. I have invested a lot of time, money and energy into the Legends games and have never once made it onto a LB - regardless of how well I play or how much time I spend doing so. The system has many flaws, and I think your suggestion will remedy the more severe flaw and put the LB in a whole new direction. It will make the game much more enjoyable while keeping it competitive for the majority, not the minority.

I am excited to see this to be implemented for next season which is so near *cross fingers.its a positive change and might spark a healthier comeptitive culture among us.why not since before perhaps this season gave sts enough inputs to slightly revamp the lb.so nt just dedication and commitment lb now gives us the chance to demonstrate best use of skills or really top players who earn their respect by good sportmanship and application of skills.so the banner worth more than just a banner to show off but rather as an inspiration to others to haul more efforts which eventually lead them to be more dedicated i think.

Have you considered the wrong methods like using auto players which are used to catch up or keep up with the LB players? You think a new player would be able to catch up with a million PvE kills? Let's say he catches up in a year. By that time the LB numbers would be even higher!

Also, no need to take their positions, what we are trying to suggest here is the All-time top LB can be there as it is, just a new 'Seasonal LB' should be added.

Ganku here... although I am #1 flagger I would LOVE to see a seasonal PVP Leaderboard!! Although i flag A TON! I KILL TOO! And off topic but lets see a 2v2 or 3v3 ranked arena for ALL lvls. No brackets just same lvl competition!

I know a few of the CTF killers haven't been on since last season. They made it, so it's NOT impossible. Also they just released a new form of PvP. TDM, easy to catch up.

No, but if you a retired man, used to be top 5 LB CTF killer, you wouldn't wanna see everyone getting a banner that YOU should've had when you were in your prime.

My Suggestion sounds like this.

You start with this new Seasonal LB. You hand out the exact same banner as the long time PvP'ers, but you put a little effect OR an extra feature like +1% Crit Chance or 5% Dodge to the long time PvP'ers. Because there's no wag any of the current CTF LB holders would want the new banner to be the exact same as every elses, who did not work from the start of AL to get up on the boards.

hmm you got a point there, since not a lot of LB people improve their stats.. say pve kills.. or flags etc, they slow down.. and new players have a chance to catch up

THANK YOU! This needs to be implemented... As a rogue with 1.6k kills there's no way I can catch up to 30k to get the last spot. Or even 10k and catch up to TDM boards. Even though I probably can't kill enough to get up there, it would be a fun challenge :)

Also, how about breaking down into level groups? So there would possibly be a 25-27 category for my 26 twink.. maybe a little bit harder to add but I still wish it was there.

You would have to keep an overall leaderboard so that those that had soent months getting the large achievements arent penalised. Like others have said, make an overall leaderboard and a seasonal leaderboard.
