I'm going to attempt to explain how Spacetime Studios was founded and how it affects Star Legends and Pocket Legends.
Spacetime Studios HQ is in Austin, Texas and was founded by Gary Gattis, (current CEO) Cinco Barnes, Jake Rodgers, and Anthony Sommers. At least 3 of these men worked on the following: Ultima Online (Origin Sytems, Electronic Arts September 24th 1997) Star Wars Galaxies (Sony Online Entertainment, Electronic Arts June 26th 2003) Wing Commander (origin systems Inc. 1990) these jobs inspired the 4 founders to create their own MMO, "Blackstar." In March 2006
They contracted to begin development for the game for NCsoft. (FYI the employees went from 0 to 60!) but in January 2008 NCsoft cancelled their agreement to publish Blackstar after 2 other MMO's failed. Luckily Spacetime had contracted the Technology from the creation and were able to keep the "Spacetime Engine" but NCsoft still owned "Blackstar IP." Spacetime had to lay off 12 team members in this time. In May 2008 Spacetime got the Blackstar IP from NCsoft in August 2008 Spacetime went down to half it's original staff looking for a publisher. In June 2009 Spacetime created art work for Blackstar, showing that they were still confident in making the game but their staff was down to six people, the four founders and two others. In 2009 Spacetime started experimenting with IOS apps. Later Spacetime looked into self publishing games and began work in October of 2009 and in January 2010 "Pocket Legends" was born. Apple asked Spacetime to wait for the release of the game so they could they could show it with the Ipad, so they did and Pocket Legends was released April 3rd, 2010. In September 2010 sts announced that android would cross play with iPhone. Sts then got back to work on Blackstar, but in a much more toony looking way and more like Pocket Legends. It's name added "Star Legends: The Blackstar Chronicles" and was released In February of 2011. I hope I helped you or entertained you in some way :)
