I moved this from a reply to another thread:

Better yet item crafting... Farm for components from maps. Combine components using a blacksmith NPC or a forge in the guildhall etc...

THIS would stimulate the economy.

Let the crafter be 'specced' for crafting and that way in order to do so you'd have to respec. This would keep farmers farming those components and selling them in the cs.

Once the proper items are combined the formulas create unique items with stats that are'rolled' for based on the quality of the components added.

The higher level the dungeon the higher level the components that drop. There should be hundreds of components that would create thousands of unique and different items.

I think this would add such a unique and interesting way to encourage elite farming, make money for sts due to more frequent respecs, as well as create enough diversity in the market that crafted items would yield high demand and thus revitalize the economy.

Add some 'mythic' level components to crates and elite chests and you've got more plat and more and more unique high level items.

Now that is one brilliant idea. Item & Armour Crafting, sounds like my forte. It could just be like The Last of Us where you craft Medical Kits and Weapons. Brilliant Idea! Hope STS put this into consideration.

I played dark age of Camelot and this was one of the primary sources of income for farmers and crafters alike. And some of the best gear in the game was crafted by players.

Exactly. If AL did this, players wouldn't really need to put weapons on Auctions unless they wanted to really change their weapons.

The one problem with that is that would make an even bigger advantage
For those who can afford platinum I think it would fare if you did it as or as a reward for an acheivment that would mean it was about skill not money

I'm sorry but what's the problem with plat players having an advantage exactly? We owe everything in this game to plat players because without them sts wouldn't be able to pay their data center bill monthly and the payroll etc... People who work hard in this game and don't use plat are at a bigger advantage because with that hard work comes the development of skill.

Contact STS and let them know about this option because as far as I'm concerned, I want this to happen xD

+1 Love the idea!

And agree with you about the platinum buyers stuff (I'm not one by the way)

It is a good idea imo. I've done it in other games.

Would/should we be able to create existing items?
And exactly why should we have to respec?

I would say No - existing items should remain loot only... this way crafted items are truly unique… AND loot items remain truly unique

STS should require respecs because it should require skill points to learn how to craft and become specialized in a certain craft…

So, there would be skills with different levels of ability:
Wood, Leather, Metal, Cloth, Jewels (materials)
And…
Existence, Movement, Shadow, etc… (Imbuement abilities)

What would happen is a toon should have to choose – if they want to be good at Metal & Jewel materials and Movement & Shadow Magic – they might be able to make a really good ring or amulet, but not such a good bow or armor… thus you would seek out different crafters for different items.

Armor crafters would need: Metal, Leather, Cloth, and Movement etc… The combinations would create diversity – and crafters who understand the skills and become good with combinations or recipes of materials would benefit from people hiring them to craft items. The recipes shouldn’t be listed anywhere publicly accessible – they should be learned from experimentation or from quests of some sort in game, that way crafters can maintain a good hold on the economy. Ultimately this benefits everyone because it will keep demand for material high.

Meanwhile – farmers would benefit from being able to sell raw material to crafters

And PVPers would benefit from being able to buy awesome gear from crafters…

Ah I see. I thought it was just like this:
Let's say a certain recipe was given out by STS. It needs 3 ingredients to be crafted. You find all 3, go to an NPC crafter and he/she will make the item.
^I thought it was just like that. But the way you put, sounds more....interesting.
