How STG has shaped me.

I'm currently attending MIT for computer programming, and game development and implications. My dream is to work for STG, and as soon as I'm out of college, I'm going to apply... And move to TX. Fingers crossed!

I agree with coot, if you are going to try to work for STG, and you have those adequate programming skills, then you should just make your own brand and games, because the programming skills wouldnt be as advanced as a company like Capcom/Namco.
Or you could always apply to those, big names :p

Producing commercial games is typically pretty demanding. Nothing stops a deadline, so you're often in for some long hours. So, make sure you really do love it. Those long hours can only be withstood if you're doing something you really like.

A place to start may be STG but it may also (more than likely) be elsewhere just remember you won't do yourself any good limiting your horizons.

Not saying that applying with stg would limit him I'm just saying that wanting to apply to just one company and saying it's necessary to begin there I'd limiting yourself. I'm aware if stg's many achievements but its anyways good to be more open. I personally think a player of stg games one day working there would be pretty cool but it's not as he said necessary to begin at stg.

I understand your desire for more content in PL. Everyone wants more for their favorite games, but I assure you that if we did not evolve our business model and expand in to new game types, we would not be around when this girl graduates.

We're looking for bones. In the meantime, all of our games can be played for free for literally hundreds of hours, and we'll continue to run all four of our MMOs for as long as there is a healthy community of players enjoying them.

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say I appreciate and am relieved to hear that, but actions do speak louder than words. I'm not doubting you on it, but from speculation PL seems pretty far down the line of priorities after a 10 (or 11?) month period. From an outside perspective, it's hard to understand exactly what is going on. If players were given more direct insight directly from you guys, I think they'd feel much more informed and comfort with the company.

Just my thoughts.

When you said computer programming I assume you mean computer sciences? Anyways I want to major in mechanical engineering and minor in computer sciences Iowa state seems to have a great program for what I want so I'm thinking about applying for a scholarship there.

Sts didnt really impact my dream but it kinda made me think about computer programming as I am more used to programming physical objects specifically to do a task. On my robotics team I'm the programmer which I was blessed to have a professional programmer who could teach me about it.

However, sports may lead me in a different direction... Who knows :)

Good to finally see some comfort from the Justg, thank you it's appreciated.

However, as Myst said, actions do speak louder than words. (In fact, Myst took the words right out of my mind.) To piggy back on it, if a year goes by without any relatively significant changes, this is what our expectations come of.

And with the community part, I don't think you need to worry about that as long as this game can be updated now and then. This is by far the best community for gaming that I've ever been apart of.

STS has great programming skills, but there aren't too many people who work for STS so they can't produce as fast as larger companies. I say go for your dream or go to Blizzard (since they make the same type of games).
