Ubuntu Edge (http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ubuntu-edge)

^ That over there will be the true future of mobile/pc. Completely unique phone and project with the ambition to change the world of mobiles and pcs. Combining both mobile and pc, having Ubuntu and Android both in it, assumed 4 GB RAM, 128 GB Storage, fastest multi core CPU (when hopefully phone gets actually done), a freaking sapphire screen which can only be scratched by diamonds and so much more awesome things in a freaking mobile phone.

The idea of this phone is to be both a mobile phone and a main pc. The hardware will be top notch and it will actually be on par with most desktops there are. I'm just simply stunned how amazing this freaking beast would be and I for one am going to support this.

The catch is that the phone is on indiegogo. In 1 month they try to raise 32m dollars in order to product this phone. 7 days has passed and currently the raised money is a bit over 7m dollars. I believe when more and more ppl begin to find this, the 32m dollars goal will be achieved and this phone will be made. The ultimate catch is that this phone wouldn't be available on regular mobile phone distributers. Only the ones who contribute to the indiegogo page (by buying the phone from there) will receive the phone while all the others wouldn't have the possibility to get one. The phone currently costs 775 dollars (a bargain!!!!) but the remaining reserving spots are limited in that price. As the fundraiser is done by indiegogo, if this project wouldn't achieve the 32m dollars limit, u would get all of ur money back which u would have invested in it.

So basically, u r either guaranteed to have the best mobile ever made by far or u will be refunded the money u put into it.

What do u think? Amazing right?

Can it play STS games? If not, it's just another geek toy to me. :p

Yes u can as the phone has sorta "dual OS".

It has Ubuntu OS but it also has Android OS which allows for the usage of Google Play store and PL.

That is one sexy phone! Always been a huge fan of Linux and I'd love to see super smart phones in the future; like this! :)

Just saw the vids and I was just like WOAH!
I mean you can play your apps via your PC, even WhatsApp would be possible to run on a desktop - theoratically.

775$ (580€) is actually a pretty darn good price for a mobile device which is as good as a normal laptop (when not even better), just simply a must have!

I just say: A Device to rule them all! ;)

Ya, I hope they will get to 32m!

Kick starter campaigns lol.

Most of the work is done. They have the required conacts to produce the phone but to actually produce it, they need the 32m.

Ya, me too! Linux is so solid and light to handle. Only bad part is that most games I like to play are made for Windows but there are always Wines ;P

Yeah, in Finland S4 costs around 750 euros and iPhone 4 costs around 800 euros, so it's a true bargain :D!

Yeah, most Euro prices of multimedia products are 1:1 of the price in Dollars (same here in Germany).

So $700 = 700€...

This will prolly not the case with the UE, because they don't plan mass production - only online purchase. Another pro to record. :)

What's there to debate? I've been following this project for several months and I'm super excited about it even if I can't get one (non GSM network). First saw it during CES in January, excited to see Linux finally getting out there.

For me I've been obsessing over the hardware. Sapphire crystal display is insane, same thing I have on my watch. Finally a phone you won't scratch from just throwing it in your pocket, unless you have diamonds or further compressed sapphire glass in there.
