So I got my daily elixr then two mins later, it said 'Your elixr has worn off'

Sometimes the elixirs overlap. This is a known bug that has been around for about 19 weeks I believe. If you still have your previous blessing and your new blessing is the same as the previous one, when the old blessing runs out it will delete both blessings. The only way to deal with this is to go to your elixir buffs and make sure your previous blessing is deleted before accepting the new blessing.
