You can search for a keyword on a topic and it will bring up a list of threads with that topic.
You can start threads like you did, and lots of players will try to help.
There is a private messaging section. Just click on any forum name highlighted next to a post and press "send private message". I'll send you a request. You can accept it through the notifications area right at the top right of any screen.
