Private Message Alerts Not Working

Yesterday, my none of my alerts were working, now today my PM alerts do not work. I see the yellow message in my chat however I am not receiving the number showing alert in my alert box. Can someone please help?

Go to 'Options' then the alerts tab and make sure that chat has a tick next to it.

Maybe it's turned off in options?
