Howdy folks! It's been a while since I've posted art here. I've got a TON of new stuff, but I'll be sharing a series I've been working on. The basis of the series is to paint pokemon to actually look like monsters. I make my own realistic take on them, with a concept art flavor. I don't take requests for these, I really don't decide which pokemon I'm doing until I open a new canvas. Well anyways, here they are. Ken Sugimori's design, followed by my own:

Unrelated to the series, but still a pokemon piece, is a piece I entered (I won) in a contest by Itsbirdy (from YouTube and instagram) where you had to color in his line art. Of course, I wouldn't be content with just doing that, so I turned it into my own piece and used his lineart as a character placement guide. It's alice in wonderland mixed with pokemon. Here's my winning entry:

I've long since given that up. I'm a lot more passionate about concept art for video games/movies, so that's the new dream. No luck in that either though lol.

What do you use to draw these? They are amazing

A Wacom intuos 4 tablet and photoshop cs5.

Has anyone heard of the new mega evolutions in the upcoming X & Y versions? It was recently announced that venusaur, charizard and blastoise are getting one as well! A lot of gamers are saying that pokemon is running out of ideas, but I think this new mechanic is breathing some real life into the series, as well as giving the fans something to look forward to with each generation.

I started drawing the three Kanto mega evolutions :)

Blastoise I finished a few days ago and charizard a few minutes ago. I became pretty obsessed with the charizard piece, so I spent a lot more time on it than blastoise, about 12 hours give or take. How you folks enjoy!

They do, it's called jailbreaking, haha! Or rooting if on Android.. (many apps after that that allow you to use your ios/android device as an emulator)
