To them, it means the whole world. It depends on how you play the game. Getting on leaderboards require achievement points too so they're quite grinding their gears on the game to accomplish it. Not to mention decent game play for both pvp and pve.

Everyone who are on the leaderboards at the end of the season get a banner.

No winner can receive more than 1 of the same item. Banners are awarded to the top 25 in some of the categories (as detailed below).

Top Players
-Overall: 1st player is awarded overall leader banner
-Rogue: top 25 rogues are awarded rogue leader banner
-Sorcerer: top 25 sorcerers are awarded sorcerer leader banner
-Warrior: top 25 Warriors are awarded warrior leader banner

Fastest Hauntlet Run
-each member of the top 25 teams receives time leader banner

Fastest Hauntlet Run - Enhanced
-each member of the top 25 teams receives time leader elixir banner

Fastest Crypt Run
-each member of the 1st team for each map receives time leader banner

IMO, being on pvp LB doesnt satisfy me. Some LB players dont contribute to the teamwork - the individuals who just want kills and dont help the team much. Being skilled, teamwork, pvp techniques and decisiveness > Being on LB.
