View Full Version : Thinking of making a level 26 rogue pvp twink

Hi all, I'm thinking of making a level 26 pvp twink rogue and my weapon of choice would be arcane hooks. I'd have all the best gear as well. Keeping that in mind, can someone suggest the build I should use. Keep in mind I know nothing about playing a rogue as I've never even tried it before. While I'm somewhat familiar with some of the skills from reading on this forum, I really have no idea about any of the upgrades, etc. So if someone can give some good detailed advise, like which 4 skills to use (I'm not sure if it matters but keep in mind I'd be using hooks, not a bow), which skill upgrades to use, and which passives are good, that would be great.

Also, I forget the exact allocation of stat points for rogue. Obviously I know dex is what makes your damage, crit and dodge. But does INT also contribute to damage? And what about STR, is it just for health points or does it add anything else?

Thanks for any help you can give!

I will try put some suggestions down sooner or later...

So far what has been suggested is:

Aimed Shot (5/5)
Shadow Piercer (2/5 - only upgrade shadow absorption)
Noxious Bolt (seems to be disagreement on how many and which upgrades to add for this one)
Heal (some say add all upgrades, some say only add extra packs, the other upgrades all sound good but I'm just not sure how effective they are as the descriptions don't say)

Someone also suggested since I'm using hooks that I should use Razor Shield instead of Nox since it increases dodge a ton. That makes sense to me as I will be in close range of the enemy because I don't have a ranged weapon. But most others I have talked to seemed to disagree on that.

Passive DEX (5/5)

Not sure which are the next best passives to add. I always hear rogues complain about running out of mana, so I'm thinking maybe 5/5 INT would be smart, but maybe that's too many points on mana? What about STR too, rogue is a bit squishy as well. And what about crit passives? I guess there's lots of choices here.

Maybe some of you can help me fill in the blanks here....

Here try this :
Aimed Shot (5/5)
Shadow Piercer (3/5) No Gouging Rush or Leading Dagger
Noxious Bolt (3/5) No Strengthened shot and lingering poision
Combat Medic (3/5) No Good Medecine and Trama Surgeon

Passives:
Full Dex
Full Knowledge

1. I know that rouges dont have that much health. Just use STR pets ( I know that they are for warrior, I mean cmon. I use ribbit too much. They just pets.. ) Malison, Ribbit ETC.

All opinions are my own

Still would have 4 more skill points left over. I'm going to be level 26, so that means I have 25 skill points.

Try put the remaining on Might or Crit. Or if you wanna go all dex, go for dmg

Energizer - what is your plan with this Rogue Twink? Do you plan to PVP or are you running timed runs? Ultimately how do you plan to play?

5 aim
2 pierce(+10 heal)
4 nox(no strengthened shot)
4 packs(no trama surgeon)

5 dex
5 int

I'd say try with 14 points in int, and rest dex to start. The reason I say 14 and not 15 is because you get .2 more dmg if you do 14 and its worth more than 10 int. good luck with them op hooks! :p

Just PvP, and probably will just play once in a while, my end game mage will still be my main.

Thanks! I don't have the hooks yet, but I expect their price to drop a little bit soon and will be looking to buy.

I think it's stupid to make a twink but I'll help out.

Aim 5/5
Nox 2/5 more dmg
2/5 piercer hp steal
Packs 4/5 no HoT
Int 5/5
Dex 5/5
Rest ro Str.

Full dex main points.

What makes you say it's wrong? Just because it isn't yours. You're not God. My post came out wrong lol, I didnt mean the builds are crap but parts of all the builds are lacking imo. Most of them will lack survivability and ill bet you that mana preservation will be one of the hardest things. But, youre not a twink so you wouldnt understand  If you combine all the mentioned builds, it would be an exotic result.

Yours for example, missing out HoT, thats a huge disadvantage because its missing out on an extra heal

lvl26 is Not a twink lvl. Mind you I pvped at lvl26 CAP.

Not really, some people know when to time their heal, besides at that lvl it only heals like 126 per HoT.
Timing heal as in, sync with a warr. It really doesn't do much, besides you can just pierce if you're bad at surviving.

damage at L26 will probably hit around 500 on an uncharged aimedshot and one tick of HoT heals 126 as you said, it would take 4 ticks to completely heal an aim shot. Its really useful after L21

Ok, im not a rogue ofc, but i twinked at 27 for 3 months as mage. The best 1v1 rogue ive ever met was 26 there (was the only rogue that could kill me 1v1 from rogues 26 and 27). Tho some things have changed since then, he did give me his build, and you can try it if you want, and i have a feeling its close to what bless was thinking of. Anyway, its 5/5 aimed, 5/5 packs, 4/5 nox (leave out strengthened shot), and 1/5 pierce (no upgrades). For passives, 5/5 dex and int. Again, ive never used it, so i cant say from personal experience, but i know it killed me pretty darn good. Good luck. :)

I would use that build if I had top gear.

Funny how the most popular levels keep gradually creeping up. First it was 16, then some players decided if they went to 17 they could get a slight edge and still join the 16 games. Then more and more went up to 17. Then finally most were at 17, so a few decided to go to 18, and the cycle continues. Same with 26/27.

I guess might as well do 27. But I'm not going to do it for a while. For now I'm still focusing on my main and farming/merching to save up my gold. I will probably tackle this later in the season, when the arcane hooks price drops a bit more.

The popularity of the twink levels arent random at all after caps. Gear of the original level is cheap after the a new cap comes so they would hit the twink bomb prolly because of that.

L21 cap - L16 twink level
L26 cap - L21 twink level
L31 cap - L26/27 twink level

^ because gear is cheap.

Also, some want to have an advantage over others at a twink level so they would level up one, and use higher level gear to face people one level lower - soon everyone levels up to balance it and then that becomes the new popular level.

Lvl 26:
5/5 aimed shot
1/5 pierce
4/5 Nox 134
5/5 pack
5/5 Dex and int
1/5 str

Just my two cents
P.S. I was the top 26 rogue till I went endgame:)

Ener, I'd say 26 PvP is almost dead. Its very rare to find a full game. Also most of those people are in either two guilds holy templars first chapter and blacklisted. And be prepared to get ganged a lot.

Well 16 and 21 were caps too :p And mythics are just more expensive, better gear.. The definition of a twink is just a player bellow lvl cap (current) who obtains the best gear for its lvl and is usually for pvp. A matter of opinion i guess, but i would still call it twinking.

Correct, but like i said, i dont think it matters whether it was once a cap or not. It doesnt mess with the definition of a twink.. If it couldnt be called a twink tho, what would you call it? I think its better to keep it simple. :) And another thing, is it a big deal that we call it a twink lvl? Hehe, idk, guess i dont see what ur getting at.

Twink indeed is lower than endgame PvP, but in my mind it's ot 26 and 31 because all the endgamers today have pvp'd at that cap.

Hmm, new players havent at the 26 cap, or even some at 31.. But your free to think of it as you want (as you know), i just dont think this should really matter what you call it... But to what you ARE calling it, if you havent pvped there (after expansions since that cap) "noob farming" is just a speculation. :) I havent been there in about 2 months myself now, but when i was there it was only "twinks." At low lvls like 5, 8, 10, you will find a lot of new players with crap gear, and then the guilds of twinks farm those new players. This wasnt how it was at 26/27, by those lvls new players had usually already tried pvp at the low lvls and got farmed, so you rarely saw one. It was actually a good experience for myself. Since most fights werent 5v5, it usually turned into 1v1s, while i may not be noticeably awesome at 1v1s now, i did learn quite a bit. It may be different now, but i was just saying, dont be too quick to judge it. :) Latr.

A twink in STG games is any XP locked character made for the purposes of farming specific level items in PvE or competing in PvP.

So, a twink can even be a L35 provided its XP locked. Of course, twinks typically have some of the best gear available for their level.
