After doing a search of the forums here it seems game-pad support has been asked for quite a bit going back over 3 years. The only response I could find dated back to 2010 and was basically a flat answer of we might implement keyboard support in the future but its not in the current plans. I play AL on a portable device and I cant do so for more than a few hours without my hands starting to hurt. I can play other games with my Moga Pro (games that are not Pivot approved even) all I want and my hands feel great.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE implement game-pad support! I would love to hear a response from STG that actually addresses the reason for not doing it and what it would take from us players to make it happen. Do you want a petition? I am sure that given enough time I could gather many signatures.

I already play on a game pad. I heal with potions like a boss hours unend. I occasionally play on my device and I'm totally not used to it anymore! Just play on Chrom :)

can i play this using a USB gamepad controller? i was having trouble playing it on my laptop since it doesnt have num pad and the numbers (used for skills) are located above the directional buttons (WASD).. Been having difficulty playing!

1. get a gamepad and connect with your pc
2. download http://www.emulation-evolved.net/?q=node/19
3. run the app
4. set the keys as you want (for example "W" on keyboard = "up" button on gamepad, "1" on keyboard = "X" on gamepad etc etc)
5. play AL

Here is another Key Mapping program that I've used with great success.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/joy2key/

allows for use of POV keys that some directional pads are mapped as, like on the 360 and PS3 controller.

Only thing I dont like about using a control pad is that you can't "cancel" a move like on a touch device. If i wanted to stop a skill from firing, i can can just roll my finger off the skill and it doesn't fire. on Pad, once you activate a skill, there's no way to cancel it.

My pad of choice is the Hori Fight Commander 3 Pro.
