What did I see? White small object with a fading 'tail' circling a player.

I am very curious as to what I saw yesterday? It was a visual effect (like the clovers from Lepre or hearts from I guess the valentine banner) that I had never seen before. I have only been playing a few weeks so I guess I have not 'seen it all' yet.

This player had a small white object with a fading 'tail' circling him/her. I did ask but the player was not active/responding.

Anyone know what this might have been?

I think it was Arcane staff animation, Ker'shal Scepter is the staff called :)

So that was an Arcane staff... nice. I will inspect the next person I see with this more closely.

If you mean the white dot as in the picture below, it's indeed the Arcane staff. Note that you can't see the effect in the inspect page :)
