I'm posting this in the Android Beta because from the posts I've seen in here this is who should be answering this.

Do you think this is a good device to run PL?

Huawei - Ideos 7" Tablet S7 - White (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olstemplatemapper.jsp?id=pcat17080&type=page&qp=crootcategoryid%23%23-1%23%23-1~~q70726f63657373696e6774696d653a3e313930302d3031 2d3031~~cabcat0500000%23%230%23%232cw~~cpcmcat2090 00050006%23%230%23%239~~cpcmcat209000050008%23%230 %23%231~~nf1024||416e64726f6964&list=y&nrp=15&sc=abComputerSP&sp=-displaydate+skuid&usc=abcat0500000)

Based on the specs, it should run PL very well, but it's hard to be certain without actually trying it.

Thanks for the reply. It's hard to find a tablet with the Google Market installed. For instance, the new Archos 43 (http://store.archos.com/archos-internet-tablet-p-5003.html) says it has AppsLib installed which I believe is more of a 3rd party app store. That is is only $249 though. Smaller screen but has 2.2 installed.

Decisions, decisions.

Ok, you Android experts - I'm looking for an android device for little money - how about this Archos 28 ?

Click here:
http://store.archos.com/archos-internet-tablet-p-5002.html

Then click on full specs. It has OS 2.2. Will this be good for PL? I don't need an Android phone as I have an iPhone but I want to mess around with android, also test PL on it and also not spend a lot.

It's $99 and its shipping now.

Thoughts from the experts on the specs?

I already know that Archos doesn't have the official market app, they have AddLib. So, I'll have to side load the .apk.

Or should I get the Archos 32 for $149 which might be slightly better for the money?

Per http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2587&c=archos_28_internet_tablet_8gb
The Archos 28
Looks like an underclocked Droid X cpu(but not underclocked much!), the TI OMAP 3630. It should run PL absolutely freaking awesome.

As for the Huawei tablet. It won't run as good as an original Droid would run it. imho you're better off getting an ipod touch. It's using an underclocked Snapdragon. At stock speeds the Droid was killing Nexus One in many 3D apps, and picture a slow Nexus One and you have a sucky gaming experience most likely. Performance will chug whenever anything onscreen gets exciting.

It only has a 240x320 display, so not sure how readable things would be.

In lieu of that, why not spring for the Archos 32 instead?

I'm sure you might be able to find a better deal than that somewhere too.

I already own an iPhone 4, iPad and an iPod Touch 2nd Gen, just looking for a droid device now. :)

The iPod Touch 2nd gen resolution was

* 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen Multi-Touch display
* 480-by-320-pixel resolution at 163 pixels per inch

I'd have to bump of to the Archos 43 (http://www.archos.com/products/ta/archos_43it/specs.html?country=us&lang=en) for $249 for that but shipping is delayed like 4 to 5 weeks. I did see great reviews on this device though. From a review I saw they said the Archos 43 is basically the Droid X without the phone part.

Hmm, the Archos 28 would be perfect except for that screen rez. Thanks for pointing that out Futumsh.

yah, but that is 400x240 pixels. Think that would be enough though?

I think the text would be readable at least. If you're able to wait a bit I'd hang in there for the 43 though. Being comparable to the Droid X I can tell ya, the Droid X is SWEET. Other games are great on it too, like reckless racing, mini plane, Zenonia, etc.

The larger screen really is THAT nice to have. I think it would be "adequate" on the 32 but "AWESOME" on the 43.

Yeah, two problems with waiting for the superior device - added cost & the wife. ;)

Thanks for all the replies. Appreciate it.
