need advice

hi i am kinda new with mage.can anybody suggest me a good elite build.
1.is curse a good skill?
2.everyone uses.potions so is heal needed?
plz answer thx in advance.

For elite if you're running party. The team will spect from you 1.heal for mana and 2.clock for mob aggro the rest is up to you

1. I've never used curse, but virtually no one else in PvE does either. I have heard it has some use in PvP, though.

2. Everyone appreciates a sorcerer that heals (as long as you have Empower). That said, it has been less useful for me after I got to lvl 36 and start running elite maps. Some of the monsters there can kill me in one or two hits (especially the bosses), and I have less time to run around healing people. It's still useful in Dead City and below, but it is hardly useful at all in Kraken Isles and above (maybe in tombs). I've been considering dropping it, or adding Arcane Shield.

Curse is effective I run curse like this.
Clock, curse, fb(or ice), heal and ribbit. Blow up the crits of dot of fb and clock and mobs barely moves

It's old, but it is cookie cutter for a PvE mage. My build is based off of Gaieje's build and it hasn't failed me yet. I might be making a minor tweak in the future once there is a free respec.
IMO Curse has no place in PvE. You would have to max Curse 5/5 to even squeeze out some of its potential. You're better off throwing 5 points into a Passive or another Active skill.
I have heal and I also use pots. Just because you have heal does not mean you should skimp out on pots. You'd be surprised how much pots you use in endgame elites.
