There is a new client (iOS 1.0.9.0, Android 1.0.9.0) available. Please update to the new client. It may take a while for the new client to get propagated to the Apple/Google servers.

The following functionality are available with the new client.

Crafting and Item Upgrades!

Visit Baldur the Blacksmith in the Great City of Kraag to learn more about Crafting and Upgrades.
As you adventure you will now find various Essences. Essences are not tradeable as they bind to your character when picked up.
Use the Crafting Station to distill 10 Essences of the same type into a Gem. Socket Gems into your items and improve your statistics.
It takes time to distil Essences into Gems or to socket Gems into your gear. You may have up to 5 Crafts or Upgrades in progress at any time.
Only Epic quality gear or better have Upgrade Sockets that you can place Gems into:

Epic – 1 Upgrade Socket
Legendary – 2 Upgrade Sockets
Mythic and Arcane – 3 Upgrade Sockets

When you socket a Gem into an item, it has a chance to form a Super Gem with bonus stats. If you don’t get a Super Gem, you can re-socket a new Gem for another chance at a Super Gem.
The bonus that the Gem grants depends on the level of the item. It ranges from a level 1 item will gain +1 stat or +2 for a Super Gem bond up to a level 36 item that will gain +3 stat or +6 for a Super Gem bond.
The type of stat bonus is determined by the type of Gem. Currently there are 3 Types. Look for new types of Gems in future updates.

STR = Blood Gems
DEX = Fire Gems
INT = Glacial Gem



Other Changes:

Numerical values now use a comma for a delimiter every three digits.
Top Guilds (http://www.spacetimestudios.com/showthread.php?123978-Arcane-Legends-Top-50-Guild-Ranking-November-13-2013) has been added to the leaderboard. This will be refreshed weekly, every Wednesday.
Pets purchased with Story Tokens are now only obtainable as an egg from the Story Token Vendor.
Fixed Crawly's Arcane Ability to follow PvP immunity rules.
Adjusted Crawly's fangs to better fit on his face.

I ran oltgar a few times and saw this. But right now running Brackenridge. I easily get 6-10 items on one Jarl run. I get an essence every 3 or 4 runs.

It takes time for the new app version to propagate out. Give it a while - it usually is a couple hours before we're seeing users from all over the globe.

Have you installed the new client? If not you are only playing with people who have not. In a couple of hours the old client will be turned off and you will be forced to update.

Yeah drops are definitely increased in normal maps for all rarities. I did a WT4 and KM3 and essences do drop there but the drop rate of other items is normal like before.

Rerolls also work to get essences guys :)

also i can vouch for increased common/rare drop rate. just ran a quick brackenridge and inventory was full on my twink by time i was done. no essences though ._.

also can the essences be rerolled or something? because i rerolled 2 trash pinks under 200g twice in one run. If i actually just lost out on 2 essences im mad. lol

well. You guys did the drop rate for essences decent. i just got 3-4 in one run. somewhat fair. since the plat users will still just buy there packs and pay to speed the upgrade. while the free users can farm and take a little extra time. glad cause i just ran out of plat lmao.

one thing though. you guys should make it so you can still use your item while the duration of gem socketing is going. Because i would rather not take 3 days off farming because im unable to use my mythics.. :S


edit: apparently this increased item drop rate is effecting elites. Fix this before archons start raining please :( the increased drop rate in normal maps is fine but please fix it for elites :(

Drops are ridiculous in elite, meaning, literally every sorceror s dropping something in shuyal. People are getting archon rings all over the place because of all the drops. Fix this please...

Before the patch, you could click on your first trash purple and go down the list through the greens and whites, selling each rapidly. Once you got to the last white, the sell function would disappear and you'd have to click again on an item for it to appear.

Now, it auto-targets your next piece of loot. WHICH IS PINK! I've accidentally vended my architect daggers three times now.

The drop rate is terrible, WAY too easy... and the plat cost is insanely low. I was hoping that this update would be a good thing for non-plat users, a new way to make money... not looking like it at these rates. Gems will only be worth something the first few hours.

And the stat preview in inventory only shows your current stuff after you sell one item. If you move to another item, then it goes back to showing the correct info, but the auto-selected one is showing worn item stats.

There was never a cap for the Crypts if that is where you are playing, all of the other dungeons in Brackenridge look appropriate from what we see. What maps specifically are you playing on?

I spoke too soon, it was the visual bug I posted right after. When selling items the stat preview gives the color and name of your item but the lvl and stats of the worn item. It made it look like all the junk I had looted was all lvl 36.

The number of Essences isn't so much the bug, however in order to make the Essences drop in the quantity we wanted to see it ended up ballooning out some of the other loot tables and producing excessive overall drops. We are working on a fix for this that should bring the normal loot drops back in line without disrupting the Essence amount too much.

I think this update is amazing overall, but there are 2 things bugging the heck out of me, and everyone I've talked to.

Could you not have put the crafting button on the other side? Every time anyone tries to go to their social menu, they get the bloody crafting screen. Super annoying, especially for those of us who use the social menu a ton, for guild management, etc. .

That and those big banner ads for the other games on the avatar screen, which just feel totally tacky and out of place. We're already playing one of your games, this feels like we're being pushed to invest even more of our efforts, money and time into the empire. There's a time when one should chill on the pushiness.

Which is ok, I saw gems for 100k in the CS yesterday. People bought for 10 plats wanting to make 1000% profit. This will logically not work because no sane person will buy for 100 when expected final price is slightly above 10k, probably. (Plat price plus some premium).

No leave it alone. I've ran Nordr 3 times and still haven't had 1 essence drop. The drop rate is fine. These people are just lucky.

Drop rate is insane still even after the quick fix today. Crates and pinks r dropping like mad. Armor prices and egg prices are really low.

Good quick example is esteban egg. Never was below $1500 now its $125 just because theres so many of them. Reminds me of when loki flooded the market

no, make the essence drop rate lower! Its too high! Even after the drop rate fix. I run jarl and get up to three essences! Thats too much. I would suggest make them as rare as those splinters for the mythic armor upgrade.

That'll fix the economy.

For a normal user ( legendary gear equipped), it will take 10 gems to fully upgrade armour.. Thus 100 essence... Keeping that in mind the drop rates of essense are very cool and satisfactory..

We are not really here for the economy, we are here for the game; to have fun.. Just think how many essence we need to have our gears to be fully upgraded. That would be a lot of effort needed for the normal players like me. You guys only wanna take advantage of it for your economy.. 30k + for gem for me is already an overprice. Essence should not be rare and not to be compared to those splinters for mythic items, keep in mind that gem can also be applied to legendary and EPIC items.. It doesn't make sense.

Great update, crafting and gathering essences to upgrade gear will make this game even more fun.. I can't believe people aren't talking about how they finally have the commas for the numbers in the cs and everywhere else.. Its so beautiful lol.. Everything is more tempting to buy now hahaha... Also, the game looks better on my tablet and phone, did sts update the graphics too? Good job regardless
