pets dont take up chest

they dont collect eggs chests yes it was on purpose:P

Pets do not pick of eggs for the fear of being replaced.

Mine ran right through a chest the other day and it didn't pick up. You could see his little body poking through the chest. He asnt hungry, had full tummy, too. Maybe it's a latency issue
