I know it should be charged if you have Displacement or Hardened Shield, but is there any benefit if you do not?

I searched and only found this post on the subject:

Charged shield absorbs approximately 15% more dmg, approximately reduces 15% more dmg, and lasts 5 more second.

I did some testing, and a charged Arcane Shield does not last any longer. Is there any confirmation that it actually reduces more damage, or absorbs more damage?

the +5secs might not be there but the dmg reductiong is realy there.
I tested it before while i have the flag and i can see the dmg difference.

also 2secs invulnerable takes effect when charge.

Shield is 10 seconds and an extra 5 seconds with extended shield upgrade. I tested it with a digital timer, and it lasts 15 seconds total.

Arcane Shield is one of the best skills a sorcerer can have in my opinion. It protects you from incoming damage for a certain amount of time. In my honest opinion, this skill is required due to a sorcerer's low amount of armor.

You are right, but it does not last longer than 15 seconds when you charge it versis just tap it. My question is whether charging it reduces or absorbs more damage. If not, then charging is a waste unless you want to trigger Displacement or Hardened Shield.

This is the formula for shield:

From what I recall, I believe when you charge it the multiplier is 2.5. You can dig through the Sorcerer forum for this info. So yes its worth charging but it depends on the situation. If you are at risk of dieing and charging will take too long then don't charge. Sometimes I have died waiting to fully charge because I wanted the 2 secs of invulnerability. But I probably would have died anyways even had I not tried to charge it.

Thanks. This is the information I was looking for, but have not been able to find. Hopefully charging does increase the modifier. I went ahead and took hardened shield, so those times when I can charge I will definitely see some benefit.

Just tested out on some of the bosses in king ditty. For a boss that was doing damage in the 50s, unchanrged shield reduced damage to the 30s, and charged shield reduced the damage to the 20s. So there did seem to be a significant difference in damage reduction between uncharged and charged shield.
