Exceptional Gems chance higher at unused slots?

When the crafting system came out, i put gems into all my chars (3) and i got in the process about 5 exceptional gems with 55 gems to put in. It took a while, but I surely got an exceptional gem every now and then. And i agree, that is a very good rate

i have replaced gems ever since; not only for me, but for sale too. it must be over 100 gems; i always am upgrading in 5 slots on my warry, that makes about 10 per day.

not a single exceptional one since then.

i asked my guild mates if they experiencing the same, and they all agree that the rate of exceptinal gems is extremely low now. There is hardly a day ever where anyone gets one. In my entire guild (and its fairly large).
at the beginning we had a rate about 1 exceptional per 30/40 upgrades. Now there is none at all, so its even hard just to guess what rate it now is.

Is that normal??? Is that just exceptional bad luck (pun intended)??? Or is there something wrong? Bug?

Got 2 so far while upgrading all my usable mage gear. Haven't tried regemming yet.

Out of a possible 15 slots when I first upgraded my equipment I got 3 exceptional bonds. Since I finished my upgrades and I've only been trying for exceptional bonds I'm about 1/30. Maybe it has just been bad luck but it almost feels like those online casinos that let you win in the beginning to get you hooked, then drop your odds way down so you spend more hoping to win more.

I think you just got lucky with your original upgrades. I upgraded all 15 slots in my gear and got no super gems, and then I have since tried about 30 more times to upgrade those same slots and have not gotten any super gems in any of those tries either. It seems that super gems are really rare, probably similar to the odds of looting a mythic item in a locked crate. You'll always find someone who says they looted 2 mythic items in 5 crates, and then you have plenty of folks like me who opened over 200 crates and never got a mythic item. That's how "random" works.

It should be all the same not matter if you first-time socket or re-socket.
I have got around 30 super gems out of over 400 upgrades. I get about 2-3 super gems every day out of 30-35 attempts on my 4 characters.
I think the pop rate of super gem is around 5%-8%. If your rate is below that figure, probably you had a bad luck that day.

About 2/100 now. None of this from replacing gems, but from the original placement of gems in various main, alt and twink gear. So I think the rate just as low for first placing a gem as it is for replacing a gem. I think you just got incredibly lucky when you first upgraded your gear.

Maybe they changed the exceptional gem rate silently. Not always Sts tell us what they change in an update...

I got 2 super gems first time on doom then my 3rd one took 6attempts
However I have resocketted all my gear about 20times lol and none...

From what I gather I'd say the rate is around 1/40. No wonder some peeps do not get anything in a long time. My rate is a little better I think. So I must count myself lucky... 10 supergems in about 150-200 socketing/replacements

I'm closing in on 1/300 between both characters. Its absolutely ridiculous. And making the essence purchasable with plats destroyed. There worth in cs.
