Ok heres the issue. I have purchaced a new router, cable tech came out checked all lines, upgraded my high speed internet and still have bad ping and connection. I am seriously getting fed up with trying to acheive a good connection to your servers. Tests are as follows in same room approx 10 feet from router with no obstruction. So what do I do now????????:mad::mad:

Cox High Speed Internet on Wireless Laptop Test Results
22mb Down
6mb Up
65ms Max Tested all over the country
No packet loss reported

iPhone 3g Test Results on same connection
8mb Down
6mb Up
110ms Max Tested all over the country
No packet loss reported

What are your expectations?

Well I have seen reports of consistant sub 100ms pings on wifi. However my expectations are at minimum a green connection which is sub 200ms at all times while on wifi. On other MMORPG games I have sustained sub 100 with no problem also.

So what do I do now? Settle with non optimal connection or is there something that can be done on either end yours or mine?

For reference taken from another thread..... Especially the first one.... Over seas average 200ping...

Location: United Kingdom
WiFi @ 6.9mbps = 200 avg. ping!!!!!!

Location: Pennsylvania, USA
Ping over wifi: 67 (Comcast Cable Internet) - this is with iPad, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch

Location: West Virginia, USA
Ping over wifi:100-200 (Suddenlink Internet) - iPhone 3GS

Location: Arizona, USA
Ping over wifi:150-225 (Comcast) - iPhone 3GS

Location: Michigan, USA
Ping over wifi: 95-250ms (local wireless broadband internet company) - Iphone 3gs

Phoenix, AZ
Wifi: 100-200

San Juan, PR
Wifi: 118

Goes on and on..... So something is up and I cant figure out what.

Well, for one, the number you're seeing as 'ping' in the game is only directly comparable to the in game value from another device, as it isn't an icmp round trip time figure. 200 or less is a really good value for it, and translates roughly to a 50 ms icmp round trip time.

Ok so if 200 is so good why is it that 201 is yellow rather than still green? What are my chances of seeing a sub 200ms consistantly?

Slim. They game should play perfectly at sub 500 ping.

Lately on a 3G connection with my iPhone 3G, i've been sitting around 400 ping and it's been like a slide show. It wasn't like this previous to the last version release.

Any suggestions on what I can do to get back to smooth game play? It's so lagged out that I can't even respond to most situations occurring in the game.

The tech team is looking at optimizations right now. As the game gets more and more content we need to watch the performance carefully.

I understand that the game is expected by devs to run flawlessly at 500ms or less but this just isn't the case. I have no idea what can be done to fix the issue but performance is bad at the moment for a growing number of players.

Just as an example, I live in Australia...... with an 8mps internet connection, on Wifi i get consistently 280-450 ping. (Avg 320)

I don't notice LAG until it goes over the 500-550 ping.

I'm also talking about after the latest patch.

p.s I'm using a iPhone 3gs

Thanks for looking in to this.

Maybe it does have to do with content as well like you said -- before I downloaded all the updates, I was running really smooth. I downloaded all the dungeon packs (before you released the new Swamps pack) and now it's a slide show. It gets to where I can't even keep up with the group, target mobs sufficiently, or use skills etc appropriately (half the time, i'll hit my skill and the mob is already dead before it even goes off because of the lag.)

Hopefully it will get ironed out soon. I really like to play the game, but right now it's nearly unplayable for me.

Good luck! It's a great game otherwise!
