Does locking xp gain also lock pets?

I've been wondering this, hoping its not true ._. Does anyone know if you lock your xp gain (meaning to not level up, as in a twink) can you still level pets up? Once I hit 21, I wanna start doing runs to level my pets up to 21, since they level alot slower considering how much I switch them out. Thanks to any answers ^_^

If you turn xp gain off your pets still get xp aka they can still level

Pets can still level up with xp gain off, but they wont level up higher then where you are. So if you turn off xp gain at 21, your pets can level but not passed 21.
