Don't untie any elves without getting the quest first. You wont be able to untie them even if you pay another 2 plat to enter...

Found solution...

Go back to the quest giver and click reset...seems the same thing prob happened last year...when they also re-used items.

Actually this is from the 1st Christmas. I always hit reset before I start.

I found out the hard way, you can also use the "abandon quest" option from the quest page
