What level 50 gear to strive for - cosmos?

I'm just about level 44 and want to star planning for 50. For a all int mage is the cosmos set with wand and eye the best that it gets?

Which bosses drop any of the 4 items?

Purchasing the items looks to be around:
Helm 40k
Wand 140k
Robe 400k (yikes!)
Eye 100k

I already have bought up a set of "of the Fate" that was pretty good looking and super duper cheap.

Well for helm. That price is for the Jacobs.
What YOU need is the ol helm of the cosmos which is roughly 90k

And armor went down to 350k

You don't need OL helm unless you plan to use the mirage staff for the bonus (which is not worth it) or just like the look. If you want to go cheaper, stick with the Jacobs.

And I sold a wand for 110k a couple days ago, so should be that or less by now.

Also, you don't NEED cosmos robe if you're not using a mirage staff. Get a metallic robe until you have more money. It's about the same, and will cost you roughly 1-2k. It just makes you look poor, but it functions almost the same.

There are no stat differences between the Jacons and OL helm except for that bonus. I'll be going for a wand/offhand combo though, so I guess I'd get no set bonus.

I stashed away the Havoc robe of Fate instead of the Metallic. The Havoc has 4% crit instead of 2%, but has 4 less armor.

Havoc cowl: 8int 5%hit 3%crit 3H/s 3M/s 2dmg 10arm
Jacob cowl: 11int 7%hit 2%crit 3H/s 3M/s 0dmb 18arm

The Havoc cowl actually has 1% more crit but loses some int and armor. How helpful is that extra armor?

There is a Jacob cowl up there right now for 32k that is tempting...

IMO, metallic is better. Mages need all the armor they can get. You already do plenty of damage as a Mage, don't worry about those extra bits. Mage armor is weak as it is, take whatever you can get.

Prices are dropping like crazy, so you may what to wait on the cosmos stuff until you're closer to 50.

And you may want to get a keeper's staff at some point just for fun. It's the highest damage staff in the game and has Aoe. Great for clearing mobs when you don't have to worry as much about your armor (ie. Either lower level dungeons or if you have a tank who's good at keeping the monsters off of you).

Go Metallic if you don't mind looking like a noob. I couldn't stand it so I bought Cosmos.

Where do the various pieces drop so we can farm the right jokers?

I assume that the end Keeper boss in Crush the Keeper drops the Keeper Staff of the Cosmos?

Does the Mirage Staff of the Cosmos have the same aoe damage as the Keeper staff, and where does it drop?

$36k - Mirage Staff - 115-150dmg 2.0 speed (57.5-75dps)
$100k - Keeper Staff - 145-195dmg 2.4 speed (60.4-81.25dps)
Rest of the stats look to be identical

Mirage staff has now dropped to 29k! Prices seem to be plummeting. I got one of the T'Pain boss tonight!

The t'pain boss!! Hahahahahaha. Anyways, I use overlord helm, cosmos robe and keepers staff for general mob
Clearing, than switch to eye and wand for bosses. Works well if you watch your health

Hard to get a pug group to kill that fat eye boss that drops the wand and the eye.

Nah Gurg is easy as long as the mages get the orbs in time and the other players don't take the orb the Mage is running to!

whatever u end up with, try to get a Keeper Staff.... most porweful staff in the game so far and has AOE damage.

I have the entire cosmo set and I can tell you I never play with the cosmo bonus set... u just need to have the eye + wand + Keeper staff... then ur set for the next few mths untill expansion comes out.

Sounds good to me. I'll splurge if I have to on those 3 items, currently around 300k. I think I'll pass on the robe since its selling for over 360k alone!

Finally broke down and ponied up 360K for the robe cause my Mage was sick of looking like a homeless person wearing a potato sack.
