Is anyone else snowed in for the day? Northern VA/DC metro area may get up to a foot of snow. Some states on the east coast are in a state of emergency. Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this...

Unless there's a power outage, I will most likely be spending my day playing AL...and shoveling!

What's the weather like for you?

Same, got smashed in central VA. Planning on going to dig my car out of the ditch when it stops.

Yessir. Was stuck in North Georgia for 2 days. Barely survived and I just about broke my hip attempting to snowboard down an incline. @snowpocalypse2014

Well I am not on the east coast anymore but here in Ohio we've had some pretty bad storms. Last week we got about a foot of snow and in an hour we already had the first 5 inches. Then on top of the foot of snow we had sleet and freezing rain making a half inch of ice on the snow plus leftover snow from previous storms. All that snow and ice makes it so a week later you can still walk on top of the snow without sinking in at all. We lost power a few times and Internet but that's about the worst I've had. I feel bad for the people in North Carolina and Georgia and other areas down there. On the news it was saying there's over 636,000 people without power and the roads and highways are mostly closed. They don't get snow around there usually so a lot of people were definitely unprepared.

Wow. Even when I lived in the mountains of Virginia I never had that much snow...or seen that much.

I do too. I heard on the news yesterday that people were stuck on I-95 for 2 hours. It looked like a huge mess over there.

We only got a foot of snow, and possibly another 2-4 inches tonight. With two people, it took about two hours to shovel and dig the cars out.

Be safe!

Sadly when you homeschool you don't get those "woohoo no school!" days. The only time I get those is when I lose Internet and its not "woohoo" when I still have to make-up all the work I missed. :(

Got another 6 inches of snow on top of what I already had. Apparently whenever the weatherman says 1-2 inches it is going to be 5+.

LOL. I never trust the weather forecasts in regard to snow storms. I guess they just got lucky with this storm! ;)

Yeah I don't trust them anymore. The past 3 times they've said 1-2 inches its been 5 inches and now 6 inches the last time. Seems like when they say it'll snow it snows but in the spring and summer they say it will rain and it never does. Then my house has a drought because we don't get rain. You'll literally see it raining in the corn fields across the street and you'll see like a curtain of rain go right around my house its crazy. This last summer I was in the garden and could see rain coming down the hill and go right by my house. It's something about the wind patters I was told. Always windy it seems. But I try not to trust the weatherman now unless its the temperature which they're right about.

Over here, even if there's a hint of snow, bam, no school. Break from school for about a week now, power's back on!
