View Full Version : To Magnum: You've Got Mail !

Dear Magnum,

Firstly, I would like to seek understanding for creating a threat.
Realised we never got around to making one for the guild.

Of late, I have received many pms asking why I left Magnum.
I thought it would be appropriate to clarify here, once and for all, that that was not the case.
Rather I was booted by an officer, who has much weight and clout in guild.

Below, I offer my recount of the events that transpired:

I entered a pvp room, two guild mates (let's call them George and Sam) joined on the opposite team and
and god-knows-why they began ganging me.
At this point, they have already violated two of Magnum pvp rules.

This got me very upset.
In subsequent games, I joined on their opposite team to exact vengeance.
Although I pretty much got farmed all the way
(I was one rogue without full mythic, while they were two tanks - one with full mythic, bonesaw and samael),
I didn’t give two flying hoots because I needed some manner of justice done.

On one occasion, I joined on a team which, coincidentally, had members from our rival guild;
whilst the other team consisted of a Magnum officer (let's call him Peter) and George.
Peter warned me not to join on opposite team;
but, in the grander scheme of things, I could not let the injustice that I faced earlier slide.
I continued hitting George, and was kicked from the guild and branded as a supporter of our nemesis guild as a result.

It never was, for me, a guild clash in the first place.
Just mine dishing it out by the proverbial sidelines with George, who had ganged me earlier,
while the rest of the players in that room engaged in their own fights.
But George, being the runner and ganger that he is, couldn't fight his own battles - he hid behind Peter.
At some point, I imagine, it could have looked like a clash when I hit them both
(with Peter inevitably on the receiving end of collateral damage).

I was later given advice that I should have reported the ganging incident when it happened.
It, however, never is in my nature to whistle blow.
If I had an issue with someone, I see little reasons to involve the entire guild and create possible drama in the process.
Rather, I would first attempt to resolve it between the both of us as would mature adults – precisely what I did.

While I cannot apologise for having stood by my values;
it is, however, my regret that I would no longer be able to fight alongside all of you as a guild.
As short-lived as our time together was,
I wish to extend sincere and heartfelt gratitude for the fun that we had during this period.

If there is something I could take away from this boot,
it is the distinction I have made between true and fair-weather friends.
This boot has shown me the people who will stand by your side unconditionally,
even after you have been outcast; and this, to me, is a priceless blessing.

Given the choice, I would do this all over again; and not look back a second in regret.
Because, in the process, I have forged friendships stronger than they ever were when I was still in Magnum.

P.s.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to those who pmed and asked after my absence in guild.
Your show of concern has brought me great solace;
and, already, I am moving past from the betrayal of having been booted injudiciously.

To Tongasmash:
Tonga, Tonga, Tonga (your ign is like a mantra in my head...kidding!).
I've been in over 6 guilds since I joined AL in early season 2;
and you are, without contention, the guild master for whom I have deepest respect.

Before I joined Deathwish, you were but a number in my friend list.
After I have been recruited and the guild expanded,
I came to realise you are the one of most selfless and soft-hearted person in AL.
You stick around without fail even when the battle prospects are dreadful -
this unwavering tenacity and camaraderie are what have me bowling over in admiration.

I am honoured to have been under your leadership, whilst I was in Magnum.
Even if we can no longer fight in the pvp arena as guild mates, it is my wish that we can continue kicking butts (all the same) as trusted comrades.
For as long as I am here, you will always have a place in my heart.

And, because it's 14 feb...
Happy Valentine's Day, everybodyyyy !

To all the singles out there, never fret.
Under these skies, there is someone born to share his/her destiny with you.
When the time is right, said special person will come along in your life;
And you will be falling in love hook, line and sinker before you even realise it.

Besides, enjoy singlehood while you are at it.
Relationships can be quite a pain in the you-know-where at times ;)

xoxo,
L. Swagger

Boy, I can write AL tragedies just from PvP experiences.

After all, it basically oozes with drama.

LadySwagger! Even I was so busy in real life that I got no time to monitor the events that took place. I hope you come back! Please pm me the full details of the incident and I'll talk to Tonga about it. Or you could directly talk to him! :D
