There was a fnord server, but pl wasn't too crowded so the merged them. When that happened, anyone from the fnord server ended up with a -fnord on their name.

I made a few low lev twinks lately, one named Fnordfnord, gets weird reactions. Even when I tell people it's fake they STILL try to buy it off me. I can't imagine the pestering pm's the real ones must get.

As an official Discordian pope I may answer;
Coined by Kerry Thornly and Greg Hill, it represented something surreal and jarringly out of place. Made popular by the Illuminatus trilogy, it was intended to represent a control technique of tyranny. People were taught to not be able to see the word in the media, it's effect was to cause anxiety and fear, thus promoting obedience. Very few were able to see the word and thereby free themselves.
It's also used by some programmers to represent something weird in code.
As an official pope, I now decree anyone who reads this is hereby an official pope of their own temple.
