There is not really just one pet to choose. But sam is hard to beat as far as the right pet. If you cant afford sam, then go after abandon, or orion. All different price ranges and all good pets

Best pet for sorcerer pve? I won't say slag or sameal. Most of people can't afford them. The best pets are Malison, orion, colton, Or cylde if u can afford him. For me I would choose blight too. It has good passive ability. It hits multiple targets and cause them to bleed.
p.s: Scorch is a plat exclusive pet you can't buy it with gold :)

Hmm.. If u go pve
I think the best pet for mage is orion many of mages use them on same pvp and pve.
The second one is prance, i know other hate it but if u use mage u could get an extra
Armor, Hp the stat is not that good for mage. Doinf pve with prance will make the enemy
Hit chance reduce and thats a big deal for mage to do some Aoe dmg.

I know ethyl is good but it doesnt make your stat so well also try orion i think u will like it:)

malison, orion, clyde, grimm, valkin for general use. for tombs i like to use ethyl, helps me to aim my time shift on point :P

I have to say out of all the cheap pets Orion is the most helpful for me in PvE. It's a solid mage pet for hp!

I like Colton over Crawly, give more things mage needs minus health.
