Lvl 19 helm with 4 ar better than lvl 14 with 5 ar?

I've been looking at some lvl 19 gear and had a few questions.

Some lvl 14 mage helms have 5 armor while a level 19 mage helm has 5 armor.

Also, there are some lvl 19 (or 17) warrior helms with 4 armor. So I'm wondering, is a warrior's helm of 4 armor better than a mages helm of 5 armor?

Is it all just about Armor points or does the type of armor str/dex/int matter more?

Same thing for weapons - I have a lvl 17 weapon and a lvl 19 - the 19 does 2 more points of damage - is that the only diff?

I believe the reason why mage has more defence at that level is because they need additional survivability. Is there any other difference in stats?

For the stats is everything the same than the 2 damage? If so then yes the lvl 19 weapon is better.

So a pally at lvl 20 really probably isn't much differnet than a str mage at lvl 20? Overall the "armor" is pretty close but an int mage does loads more dmg. Interesting.

Armor or damage is one piece of the puzzle, but there are other things to consider. Boosts to stats, hit %, and crit % can affect DPS more than just base weapon damage might indicate. An increase in dodge % might be worth more than an extra point of armor. Extra H/S or M/S regen might be worth lower armor or damage output.
