Did you go to the Hermit on the 2nd map in the cave? That's where you would first begin your quest.

Your friend is noticing this a bit late...to have done the helm already...
Did he stash the armor when talking with Jerrill?
Or just playing a joke and wearing a different, mythic armor that isn't upgraded?
