That "hybrid mistake" wasn't really a mistake since it seems that birds = dex only especially if your new, but as you get into the game, you'd learn that birds can pump strength instead of dex. This allows them to use str armors and be relatively tanky (same armors as a bear except the skills). So technically you can be a bird yet wear tank armours making you more like a "tank".
