Why did this get disabled? Was it originally a glitch or something? Or was it because now people have to use plat to get kills => more profit for STG?

I think they got rid of it because it was unfair to the people on the leaderboards, yes I know the irony. Think about it, a kill at Fathyom Crypt is much easier to get than a kill at sewer's, which was the cap at the time I think. And sewer's at that time wasn't scaled down so you would need a good party to clear a dungeon. Unlike now a 56 can basically solo it.

Yeah, its a pain. I want to hit 100k kills with my Bird but getting kills in BSM is super tedious and slow.

It was "unfair" apparently because level 10s in Forest Haven would farm "quick and easy" kills while people at cap would struggle.
Of course, now people at cap can go to forest Haven and farm a whole new definition of "quick and easy" kills. Not that Forest Haven is the optimal kill farming place, but I'm just trying to make a point. Oh, the irony. (I'm not bitter at all :D)
